About Us

Spring Place Baptist Church is located in Chatsworth, in the historic Spring Place community. Spring Place Baptist, being one of the oldest churches in the area, and dates back to the 1800s

One constant theme for Spring Place Baptist Church has been building a place for worship to reach others for Christ.

In 1892-93, a white frame building was built by the congregation and used until 1955. That building is now referred to as "the old church". By the middle of the twentieth century the congregation had outgrown "the old church" and a committee was appointed in 1955 to plan a new church.

"The old church" was in a state of decay and was torn down in 1955, but the best lumber and materials were salvaged from the old building and were used in building the new sanctuary and classrooms that were dedicated in 1956. By 1979 the congregation saw the need for another sanctuary and more classrooms and a fellowship hall.

A building program was begun and the dedication of the beautiful new sanctuary, fellowship hall and other facilities was held June 27, 1982.

The note-burning and re-dedication service was held December 8, 1985 with the people vowing to "commit ourselves to the worship of God in this place, and to the great work of establishing His Kingdom in the world; in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, blessed forever. Amen".

In 2005 the church began an effort to build additional Sunday School space to reach families in the area.  The educational wing was completed in 2008.

All of this building was done for one reason; to reach others with the Gospel of Christ.
